Blattner signs on for dozens of Built Robotics machines

Avon and San Francisco, 8 September 2025. A three-year deal puts autonomous pile drivers on U.S. solar farms.

Blattner, the renewable-energy contractor owned by Quanta Services, announced a three-year agreement with Built Robotics on 8 September 2025. Blattner will deploy dozens of Built's robots on solar projects across the United States.

Pile driving without a cab crew

The robots help crews with pile driving, surveying, material handling, drilling and trenching. ENR reported that the pile drivers are converted hydraulic excavators with vibratory attachments that carry steel piles on board and work in pairs: one positions the pile, the other drives it.

Noah Ready-Campbell, Built's CEO, told ENR that some projects got 2.5 times more done in a week with the robot running around the clock. He said the deal is nationwide and will also cover projects in Canada.

Where the Exosystem came from

Built's business started with the Exosystem, an aftermarket kit that turns a 15 to 60 ton excavator into an autonomous trenching machine. Equipment World covered its $64 million Series C in April 2022. Built says every machine runs an eight-layer safety system with personnel detection and geofences.
