Cat Command takes operators out of the cab

Caterpillar keeps widening remote control across its loaders, dozers and excavators.

Caterpillar has spent 2025 pushing Cat Command, its remote-control and remote-operation technology, across more of its fleet. The system covers loaders, dozers and excavators.

Line of sight or miles away

Cat Command works two ways. A line-of-sight console lets an operator stand near the machine. A remote station lets an operator run a machine from far off, or switch between several machines from one seat.

Where it has worked

Equipment World reported remote-control Cat dozers and an excavator working an unstable landslide on California's Highway 1, where putting an operator in the cab carried real risk. Caterpillar's own blog covers a remote-operated demolition excavator.

Why it matters

Remote operation is the bridge between today's cab and tomorrow's autonomy. It keeps people away from the most dangerous ground while the same machines keep working.
