October 2024. The fixings maker buys the Austrian drilling-robot company outright, then sets a Guinness record with it.
The fischer group announced in October 2024 that it had acquired 100 percent of BauBot GmbH, the Austrian company behind the Baubot mobile construction robot.
A drilling robot from a fixings company
Baubot builds operator-supervised mobile robots that drill, clean and mark concrete walls, floors and ceilings. For fischer, which sells the anchors that go into those holes, owning the robot puts it on the job before the first anchor is set.
Records and tunnels
Baubot says the fischer Baubot set a Guinness World Records title in 2025 for 3,717 holes drilled in concrete in 24 hours in Traiskirchen, Austria. SOLID reported that three Baubots drilled more than 9,000 holes in the refurbishment of Germany's Engelberg Tunnel, and Byggindustrin covered the robot's launch in Sweden.
