SoftBank puts $200 million into Gravis

Construction Dive, 22 September 2026. Series A for the ETH Zurich spin-out that bolts autonomy onto heavy equipment.

Gravis Robotics raised $200 million in a Series A from SoftBank, Construction Dive reported. The Zurich company, founded in 2022 out of ETH Zurich, sells a bolt-on, the Gravis Rack, and software that drives existing heavy equipment.

The same report says the kit has been shown on Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo, and John Deere machines. Gravis Copilot is the version that leaves a person on the sticks with the model assisting.

Ryan Luke Johns, CEO, said the machines are built for the unscripted jobsite, and that the offer is aimed at small and mid-sized contractors. Dai Sakata of SoftBank called physical AI the point of the bet.
