PaintJet raised a $10 million Series A in December 2023, led by Outsiders Fund with 53 Stations, Dynamo, Pathbreaker Ventures, MetaProp and VSC Ventures. TechCrunch covered the round on 20 December 2023. Total funding reached $14.75 million.
Big jobs, big robots
PaintJet builds big industrial painting robots for big industrial paint jobs, as TechCrunch put it. The Robot Report said the company planned to focus the round on robotic ship painting.
Why paint first
Coatings protect steel and concrete from early aging, and the work is repetitive, at height and often in fumes. A robot that holds the gun at the right distance for hours is an easy case to make to an owner who repaints every few years.
